MEASURE

Distance in km on map
between you and me
 only a letter.

In the good old days, telephones and internet were absent.. the distance between two lovers would be bridged by a letter.(means of communication) even when they are living miles apart from each other.

no hourglass
time of day
measured by sun's shadow.

In rural areas farmers working in the fields could tell the time of the day by the shadow  cast by the sun rays.

Mercury in tube
warmth of body
shows temperature.

  1. Very true Kalpana, distance in love is a very strange measure, sometimes seconds feel like endless hours and at time, weeks seem like minutes. Love the was=y you bring out different aspects of the prompt.

  3. It's amazing how our form of communication has changed. Yet, it is the love and care in the message that is constant. Beautiful haiku!
