I knew it was my last day there
I had packed my small bag and was ready. We finished our
frugal breakfast. All the girls hugged and kissed me. I
said good-bye to all of
them.
Rosalyn madam told me not to forget my roots. I knew it
was
my last day there and I was happy.
They came in smilingly. After finishing the
formalities ,
we got into the car . Around the bend , I looked out of
the window
to have a last look,which was my shelter
for
six years. I was no longer an orphan. Now I have a name

ReplyDeleteI would view it as an happy end and happy, new beginning as the six year old girl now has a set of parents and the security of a home but she can always come back to the shelter to meet her friends. Rosalyn madam , therefore, had asked her not to forget her roots.

ReplyDeleteThe fact that children are abandoned reflects the ill-health of the society while the proces of being adopted is optimism. Both co-exist.

ReplyDeleteNow I see it as a new and happy beginning. Sometimes the roots are strong but when you know that you have craved for a home and security, its not hard to break out from it. Lovely post!

DeleteI wonder how many of them feel this way in today's world. And the fact that many encounter this is a bittersweet fact. They are finding a home is great but them having to search for one is depressing..

Richa, in the first place no child should be abandoned (compelling reasons). some abandoned kids find a 'home' in shelters while some unlucky ones fall trap to unscrupulous elements. If they are adopted they are lucky but when they grow up some of them feel the need to hunt for their biological parents.

The anonymity kills a person and the acceptance by a family into its fold as their own is really liberating.Thank you.
